The MEL Group has opened its new Surface Mount Technology and PCB Design facility in Medstead Hampshire. The factory has a brand new Yamaha SMT line comprising of a YSP full vision printer which increases the quality of printing and eliminating miss prints due to the AOI system prior to chip placement.
A YS12 Mounter capable of 36,000 placements per hour with an accuracy of 0.03mm. A YS88 Mounter with 30 trays and 81 reels also with an accuracy of 0.03mm. The line is completed with an Electrovert Omni 10 that has a 10 zone oven High performance reflow for demanding production requirements. The Yamaha machines are control by an of line programming station that controls the whole line from one programme. As the system is off line we can greatly reduce the cost of programming of each product to a minimum with very fast change over time from product to product. This in turn reduces costly set up charges to the customer. The facility has a brand new ECOTILE ESD floor with new ESD Benches, Chairs and Racking.
